TE AWAMUTU FARMERS.
INTEREST IN THE UNION. THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS. [FROM OIH OWN' CORRESPONDENT.] TE AWAMUTU, Friday. Reports presented at tho annual meeting of the To Awamutu branch of tho Farmers' Union indicated that the past year had been a very successful one. The membership now exceeds 200, making the branch one of the strongest in the Dominion and giving it larger representation on tho sub-provincial executive.
The election of officers resulted :—President, Mr. G. T. Crawle (Puahuc); vicepresidents, Messrs. A. Hanna (Te Mawhai) and E. Wilson (Te Rore) ; secretary. Mr. W. J. Hodgson (Hairini) ; assistant secretary, Mr. A. S. Wyllie; executive, Messrs. S. H. West, J. G. Butterworth, J. P. Craig, A. Bryant, James Onion, J. Duncan, G. Flay, A. 8. Wyllie, W. Betliune, W. Old, F. J. Rvburn and W. Taylor; delegates to Waikato subprovincial executive, Messrs. G. T. Crawlev, A. Hanna and E. Wilson; auditor, Mr. G. 0. Jourdain; representative on Te Awamiit.u Chamber of Commerce, Mr A S. Wvllie.
Approval of the I'lock House scheme for training sons of ex-servicemen to be farmers was recorded.
The opinion was expressed that there should be legislation forbidding the sale <if unwarranted stock remedies that had nnt the approval of the Department of Agriculture. It was stated that farmers .sustained heavy loss in production through failure of alleged cures of stock ailments.
