LIGHT FAILURE SCARE.
ALARM FELT AT OTAHUHU. FAULT IN AN INSULATOR. The sudden failure of the electric light, in Otahuhu and districts as far south as Papakura at 7.45 last evening caused a mild sensation in view of (he knowledge that (here was recurrent disorderliness in the city. The disruption of tho service was due. however, to a not uncommon fault, in a hich tension insulator near tho Olahuhu substation. Light was restored about, an hour and a lialf later. Thn ~1 unging into darkness of the main thoroughfare of Oiahnhu led to fearful imaginings on the part of so mo shopkeepers, who instantly removed to safety goods displayed in front of the buildings and in some instances hurriedly shut, the doors. Tho absence of any vestige of unruliness soon restored confidence, however, and business was resumed by candle-light. At Papakura no commotion was caused Immediately the failure was reported a repair gang was despatched from the city and the work of locating the fault begun. The failure produced a flickering of lights in the city.
