FEED FOR DAIRY HERDS.
STATE ASSISTANCE SOUGHT. WAIRARAPA FARMERS' REQUEST. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRES? ASSOCIATION. ] WELLINGTON, Friday. A request that the Government should arrange whh tho Rural Intermediate Credit Board to advance £20,000 to the Wairarapa dairy farmers in order that they might purchase fodder during the winter was made to the Minister of .Agriculture, the Hon. C. E. Macmillan, today by a deputation representing the Wairarapa provincial executive of (he Farmers' Union. It was stated the loan could he arranged on a business footing without cost to the State and that it would be repayable ' lit of cream cheques next season. The deputation was introduced by Mr. W. J. Poison, M.P., president of the }• aruiers' 1. nion. He said the dry season in the Wairarapa had proved very serious and farmers of th<; district were, faced with difTici Ities. They had a proposition to put be! >re the Government which would not cost the State anything. It was essential that something should be done to help the dairy herds through Ihr- winter.
