STOCKS AND SHARES.
THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. FEWER SALES RECORDED. Fairly firm conditions were maintained on 1110 Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday and fewer sales were completed. In the business done gains predominated, only two losses being registered. Ihe market for Government loans continued to g;iin strength without, any material satisfaction of requirements. Tlio only dealing recorded was in 1933 5| per cent. February-August stock, # which advanced 15s t<> £97 ss. Offers for 1936 5i per cent, bonds and stock were lifted 5s to £97 ss. Other levels were steady. The few movements which took place in banks were mainly favourable. Twopence rnorc was paid for Commercials of Australia, which were taken at 13s lid. Holders asked 2d more than the previous day for further supplies at 14s 2d. A rise of 3d took pinco in New Zealands in a sale, at 43s 3d. New South Wales wore 5s firmer. Variations in other sections were of little account. A transaction in WestportStockton coals went through at 6d, a reduction of a penny. Taranaki Oils moved up a similar amount to 9d. There was an easing in Wilsons Cements which foil away 2d, to change hands at 25s lOd. Offers were lowered 9d on the previous day's level to 255, while holders raised their demands 6d to 26s 6d. The mining section firm. A hardening of 4d took place in Waihis, which were dealt in at 16s 9d, which was forthcoming for more. Holders asked 17s. Limits were raised 4d for Mount Lyells, holders of which continued to ask 19s.
