OBITUARY.
MR. JOHN G. DENBY. The death occurred at North cote yesterday of Mr. John Grout Denby, one c-f the oldest fruitgrowers of the district, at the age of 75 years He was the eldest son of the late Mr. J. G. Denby, the first postmaster at Northcote, and came to New Zealand from England with his parents when an infant. He had engaged in the business of an orchardist practically all his Jife and was a prominent member of the old Northcote Fruitgrowers' Association. He was also a member of the committee of the Northcote school, at the opening of which lie was present. He is survived by Mrs. Denby, three sons and a married daughter. These are Mr. M. Denby, an engineer on the Monowai; Mr. J. H. Denliy, of Waihi; Mr. R. Denby, of Northcote: and Mrs. Horace Mc.Cartic, of Stanley Bay.
