Several surprise -wins -were again refcorded at F.llerslie yesterday, when the Rockland Racing Club's Autumn Meeting was concluded on a track that was soft as the result of heavy rain and. tended to upiet the calculations of investors. The rain continued until an hour or two before jacing commerced, and although the ■weather then cleared, and the sun shone in the afternoon the attendance was greatly affected, it being estimated that 12,000 were present, compared with 19,000 on the second day last year.
Totalisator investments showed a inarked shrinkage., The machine handled £5,803 10s, compared with £53.516 10s on the corresponding day last year, a decrease of £22,713, or 42 per cent. The total for the meeting was £64,848 10s, against £102,317, a drop of £37,468 10s, or 36.6 per cent. Results : *
