Emile Zola: "I do not believe'that intelligence and creative strength are injured by smoking." Dean Howells: "Smoking quickens the brain and dispels the clouds that overset the mind." Of course, a man can over-smoke, just as he can over-indulge in anything else, but it is doubtful whether there is a cheaper or more enjoyable pleasure than a sweet pipe and Luxury tobarco.
