PLUNKET SOCIETY APPEAL. SUM OF ABOUT £390 RECEIVED. DECREASE ON LAST YEAR. The sum of £363 was raised by the Pluriket Society in its annual street appeal yesterday. In addition to this amount further donations, estimated at about £25, are expected to be received from an outstation, thu s bringing the total returns up to just under £390. "We received about £l2O less than last! year, but in view of the financial situation we arc quite satisfied," said tho secretary, Miss E. Partridge, last, evening. »'A fall in the receipts was expected, as in these times some peoplo have not money to spare, while others are unable to give as much as usual. We hope that our annual subscribers will help to make up tho deficiency, however, so that the work of the society may be kept at its present high standard." Miss Partridge added that in accordance with the City Council's regulations, £lO of the sum collected would be handed to the Society for the Protection of Women and Children, which had not been granted the privilege of holding a separate street collection this year, but had been obliged to share a- day with two other organisations.
