The success of " Ben Hur," seen in Auckland last week in sound-synchronised form, has resulted in many more films being re-made. One of the most notable is to be '* The Ten Commandments." Paramount intend to use the Biblical sequence of (lie original in their entirety, adding synchronised sound effects, and to re-pho-tograph the modern sequences with a new cast. This project is perhaps the most interesting of its kind, as " The Ten Commandments " was one of the classics of the silent screen. A record for location was established on this picture when 7000 people were transported 150 miles to the Guadalupe Lake district., housed for several weeks and worked at an overhead of 35,000 dollars a day. But in spite of the cost, the picture netted big money and Paramount feels it would do it again.
