OLD LONDON STREETS.

Arlington Street takes its name from a Minister of King Charles 11, who built a house where Buckingham Palace now stands, with its gardens extending to the site of the llitz Hotel. In tho days of Ihe Restoration this particular area was looked upon as " the finest situation in Europe for health and beauty; with the advantages of town and country," we are told. - For tho past 200 years Arlington Street has been the homo of statesmen and public men. Here Robert Walpolo lived and died, also Lord Carteret. Here the Dukes of Rutland, Richmond, Hamilton, and Beaufort had their town houses, several of which aro still standing, including Wimborno House, with its original carved ceiling.
