CURING FOOT POT.

BLUESTONE ROUND TROUGH. Advice in regard to combating foot rot is given in an Australian paper t>y Mr. J. Brindlev, of Alburv, Victoria, who is one of the leading graziers in the district, lie says that the most effective treatment is to place Milestone around the salt trough. A trench is dug around the trough and made very boggy, and the bog is then impregnated with Milestone. The more clay the sheep carry away on their feet the better for experiment. The clay sticking to the feet of the sheep is said by Mr. Brindley to he the basis of the cure. It is best, Mr. Brindley says, to build the salt trough in boggy country in stiff clay soil, or clay could be carted and placed around the trough. The sheep should be induced to use the lower side of the trough. This method he has tried with great success for a number of years, and it had cured every bad case of foot rot. He once, had 50 ewes with lambs at foot which were very badly affected. He used this treatment, and cured them without having to use the knife. If the foot rot were really severe he recommended using about 51b. of Milestone around a trough Bft. long. It depended, however, on the condition of the sheep, and the owner should use his discretion as to how often the bluestorto should be renewed.
