HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST

CLOUDY AND UNSETTLED. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— A slight westerly depression has passed in the south, while a tropical disturbance is developing north-westward of the Dominion. Cloudy and unsettled weather is indicated, with rain following in most districts, heavy in North Auckland and cast coast areas. Variable and moderate breezes northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, prevailing and increasing. Seas becoming rough and increasing southward from Cape Egmont, and northward of East Cape. Local outlook: Cloudy and unsettled, with rain following. Warm and humid conditions. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A fairly extensive anti-cyclone now covers New Zealand and the greater portion of the Tasman Sea. A slight cyclone, however, is located south-west of Lord Howe Island. Indications are for variable winds, with light to moderate southerly to easterly prevailing. Seas smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Freshening north-east winds in the northern portion, moderate and variable winds in the southern portion; seas smooth to moderate. Weather: Fair to cloudy generally but some isolated misty rain probable along the east coast and in the Far North. RAINFALL RECORD.
