HENLEY SEAT FILLED. RETAINED BY CONSERVATIVES. LONDON. Feb. -26. A by-election was held to-day to fill the Henley seat (Oxford) rendered vacant by the death on January 17 of Captain ,R. R. Henderson. The poll resulted: Sir Gifford Fox (Conservative) R. B. Matthews (Liberal) .« «« 7,i-9 Conservative majority it 9,424 At the general election in October, the poll for the Henley seat resulted as_ follows: R. R. Henderson (Conservative), 24,015; R. B. Matthews (Liberal), 5411; F. J. Hembury (Labour), 3809; Conservative majority, 18,604.
