DEAD MAN'S IDENTITY.

ESTABLISHED BY CLOTHING.

LAST SEEN A MONTH AGO. The body of the man found last Tuesday in thick bush on Corcoran's Ridge, near Exhibition Drive, Titirangi, has been identified as that of Mr. Samuel Hawthorne, aged about 60, a bushman. Deceased was last seen alive on January 30, when lie attended a race meeting at Devonport. He then appeared to be in his usual good health and spirits. He was familiar with the Waitakeres, where he had been employed in scrubcutting about a year ago. The clothing on the body has been recognised by two persons as that which deceased wore on January 30. For several weeks prior to his death, deceased, who was not married, boarded at a house in Hobson Street, City. Until last November he resided at Brixton Road, Mount Eden. An inquest will be held.
