[INTER-CLUB COMPETITION.

' REMUERA WINS THE FINAL CARO MEMORIAL CUP GAINED. By defeating Eden and Epsom by 12 Snatches to 30 at the Stanley Street courts on Saturday afternoon, Remuera won the Auckland Club premiership for 1932. and with, it to hold the Caro Memorial Cup. Remuera's superiority lay in the singles, in which a useful lead of six matches to two was gained. Miss Betty Griffiths played splendidly in carrying Miss D. Newton to three closely-fought sets. The young Remuera player was within two points of a straight set win and earned •well-deserved applause for her fine effort. Mrs. Napier outplayed Miss Ramsay, and Miss Marjorie Macfarlane's supremacy was never threatened by Miss B. Knight. Remuera gained a lead of one match in the men's doubles, the outstanding match for closeness being that between Bartleet and Griffiths and A. K. Turner and A. C. Johns in which the latter pair were successful at B—6 in the third set. Eden and Epsom won three out of the four ladies' doubles. Misses Macfarlane being the only Remuera pair to win from Misses Knight and Miller. Eden and Epsom recovered cround in the combined event. W. G. Watkins and Mrs. Clay being conspicuous, however, with ar 13—11 last set win for Remuera over V. N. Hubble and Miss Edwards. Watkins got through a tremendous amount of work. Mrs. Clay lived up to her reputation for steady play. Miss B. Cooke, a young Eden and Epsom player, Bhowed to advantage when partnered by E. Turner. I. CHURCH COUNCILS' TOURNEY. A very Buccessful tennis tournament "was held by the combined interdenominational youth councils at the Y.W.C.A. courts. This was the first tournament held by the councils, and it was keenly contested by teams representing the following movements:—Presbyterian, Baptist,, Congregational, Church of Christ, Christian Endeavour. Anglican, Student Christian Movement, Y.M.C.A., Y.W.C.A.. Girl Guides. Rovers and Methodist. Each team consisted of three ladies and three men. Play was of a high standard. The final was won by the Church of Christ, winch defeated Congregational.
