Miss Betty Nuthall (England) defeated Miss Virginia Hilliary (Philadelphia), 6 —3, 6—l: Miss Sarah Palirey (Boston) defeated Mrs. Eileen Bennett YYhittingstall (England), 6—2, 7—5.
FOOTBALL IN BRITAIN. LATEST MATCH RESULTS. (Received February 26. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Feb. 25. In an Association football match, second division, Preston defeated Stoke by 2 goals to 0. In the Rugby Hospital Cup semi-final Guy's beat St. George's by 12 points to 5. In a county Rugby match Someisct and Middlesex drew, 6 points all. BILLIARDS IN ENGLAND. DAVIS LEADING McCONACHY. LONDON. Feb. 25. In the billiards match between McConachy and Davis the scores are:— Davis, 16,425, including breaks- of 509, 340, 359 and 210; McConachy, 15,931, including breaks of 237, 376 and 240. LINDRUM IN GOOD FORM. BIG BREAK AT MONTREAL. (Received February 2G, 8.5 p.m.) MONTREAL, Feb. 25. A billiards break of more than 1000 was made at Montreal this evening by Walter Lindrum (Australia) in his exhibition match with Newman (England). The break stood at 1149 unfinished when play closed.
The scores in the match arc: Newman (receives 3000), 8283; Lindrum, 6453. Lindruin also made a break of 598.
