VALUES AT PUKEKOHEi'

KEEN DEMAND FOR PIGS. - [FROM OUR . OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] PUKEKOHE. Friday. A stock sale was conducted by Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons at Pukekohe yesterday. There was only a small yarding'of dairy cows and heifers, the best of which brought from £0 10s to £7 'los. In beef, heavy cows and heifers made from £5 to £5 17s Od; lighter prime, £3 to £4 15s; older and boner cow 6, 10s to £2; light prime steers, £5 7s Gd to £5. 15s; bulls, £1 to £4 4s. Jersey heifer calves brought 16s. to £1 7s Cd, and shorn store lambs 4s 6d to Gs 9d.

The store sheep yarding of 10,480. was larger than usual, and there were insufficient pens to cope with the offering. Fat sheep prices were firm at last week's values, ewes going to 7s Gd. and second grades to 6s 6d. In the f=tore sheep section, the top price was lis Id for 100 two-tooths in good condition. Another line of 153 four, eix and eight-tooth made Ids. Ewes up to five years made from 5s 4d to S. J . Spring ewes were firm from. Gs 2d to lis Id. according to condition. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Hamilton, report on tho weekly stock sale held at Te Awamutu on Thursday as follows:—Cattle: An average number of cattle was yarded, .including several pens of fat bullocks. Competition was steady and values fully up to 'recent quotations were realised for ail classes. A number of store cowa sold at slightly improved rates. Quotations:—Fat bullocks. £5 3s ;o £s' 17s; lighter Quality, £3 18s to £5; fat cows, £2 15s to £3 17s 6d; lighter quality, £2 8s to £2 13s; light and unfinished. £1 10s to £2 ss; killable, £1 10s to £1 15s; stores, 19s to £1 7s; boneis, 14s to 18s; potter bulls, £2 16s to £4; others, £1 15s to £2 10s; good heifer calves, £1 9a to £1 17s; others, 18s to £1 ss. There was an improved demand for all classes of store sheep and values advanced on late sales from Is Gd to 2s a head. Four-tooth and six-tooth ewes sold at from 8s to ]Os fid: four and five-year-old. 7s to 93 Gd; small ewes, 4s to 6s 6d. No extra good two-tooth ewes were penned.
