Voluntary associations for Bible reading have been started in fifty of Britain's foremost schools, including Rugby, Winchester, Wellington, Repton, Charterhouse, Mill Hill, and Dulwich. A copy of Norton and Sackville's '• Ferrex and Porrex," a blank verse tragedy which was performed before Queen Elizabeth in 1561, realised £340 at a recent London sale. A pair of Byron's slippers have been presented to Harrow School, and will be placed in (lie Vaughan Library, which already contains the poet's watch and his duelling pistols. The total annual output by the British and Foreign -Bible Society of Bibles and New Testaments has risen from 785,000 ten years ago to 1,705,000 last year.
