BE TOLERANT.
THE FINER FLOWERS. Be tolerant in your judgments. Even those of us who think we are most tolerant suddenly find ourselves up against an inner feeling of having been unfair and unjust, and this, when it is hammered out, is seen to come from having judged by the emotions and not by the intellect. Someone irritates you and you are unfair to them; they irritate you because you do not like their voice, manner, appearance, ideas or habits. But is that fair? Have not they as much right to their personality as you have to yours"? If you used your brain in judging them instead of your emotions, you would realise this. When someone's moral standard is not so high as yours may it not be because they nave never had much chance of developing morals at all, living in homes where life was hard and ugly, and the finer flowers of the spirit could not flourish ?
You, who have a standard, should be kind to (hose who have not. Human beings are judged, ultimately, on their opportunities and not on (heir achievements.
