LOSS OF CATTLE.
HEIFERS VALUED AT £lB. arrest of elderly man. [from our own correspondent.] PUKEKOHE, Friday. On a charge of stealing. 12 heifers yesterday at Bombay, William Fordham, aged 51 years, appeared before Mr. C. K. Lawrie, J.P., in the Pukekohe Police Court to-day. It was stated that the heifers, which were valued at £lB, were missed by a Bombay farmer, Mr. E. V. Hancock, from his farm. Accused was arrested later at Mercer while driving a mob of 34 head of cattle along the road. Accused was remanded to appear on March 2. Sergeant Cowan stating that other charges might bo pending.
