BANKRUPTCY CASES.
FORTUNE LOST IN FARM.
" A SORT OF CATASTROPHE."
Bankruptcy matters were dealt with by Mr. Justice Herdman in the Supreme Court yesterday. %; In the case of Frederick Ashton Price, of Papatoetoe, farmer, who sought his discharge, His Honor commented on the large sum involved in the bankruptcy. Counsel for bankrupt said that when bankrupt bought the property in 1922 he was worth £42.000. He had £37,000 in cash and all that went into the property at Papatoetoe. His Honor said it seemed a sort of 5 catastrophe, and the official assignee, Mr. A. W. Watters, agreed that the bankrupt had been most unfortunate. His » Honor granted the discharge. A conditional discharge was granted to Wilfred E. Begbie, of Auckland, engineer, the order to take effect npon th® assignee's recommendation, and being subject to the payment of £125 by the bankrupt. The following were granted their dis-charges-.—Garnet Francis Thompson, of Te Kopuru, farmer; Sidney George Putney, of Auckland, tailor; Sada Nanda Mahraj, of Auckland, clerk; Herbert Davidson, of Auckland, motor mechanic; John Wark, of Auckland, health inspector; Alfred James Arbon, of Auckland, baker; and Augustus Seymour Henshaw, of Auckland, baker. _ Orders for adjudication were granted in the following cases:— Percy Corbett and J. W. Turner, trading as The Regent Tea Rooms, Auckland; Walter Scott, of Kingsland, contractor; and Margaret Davidson, of Buckland's Beach, milk vendor.
