HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. MAINLY FAIR TO FINE. The following went her forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. If. M. Vincent last evening:— A slight secondary depression has developed at. <ho rear of the. recent westerly disturbance. An area of high barometric pressure is closely following. Indications favour mainly fair to fino weather in most districts during (ho week-end, although unsettled at times in western areas, with scattered showers. Southerly to south-westerly winds, moderate to strong. Fairly rough seas southward from Cape Egmont and East Cape; smooth to moderato seas on other coasts. Local outlook: Mainly fair to fine, but cloudy and unsettled at intervals, with occasional showers. Cool temperatures. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 29.951(1. Midnight, Thursday .. .. 30.00 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 74c10R.; Minimum, G3rtos.

GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government, meteorologist, reported last evening as follows;—A moderato anticyclone extends from the south-eastern portion of Australia across the north Tasman Sea. A slight secondary depression is crossing southern New Zealand. Indications are for moderate to strong winds between west and south. Seas rather rough about Cook and Fovcaux Straits and on parts of the West Coast; otherwise moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea moderate to fresh southwesterly winds and moderate seas. The weather for the most part will ho fair to fine, hut there will ho some scattered showers in the western and far southern districts, and extending to parts of the cast coast, of the South Island. Indications for the week-end are favourable.
