HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST

FAIR TO CLOUDY. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening.:— The westerly depression has passed rapidly in llie south. A tropical cyclone is moving on to the northern Tnsman Sea. Expect, mainly fair to fine, though cloudy weather in most districts, although scattered showers are likely in western areas. Southerly to south-westerly winds, moderate to strong. Seas moderate. Lot al outlook: Fair to cloudy, with a tendency for an occasional shower. Cool temperatures. The Government moteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A depression crossed the Dominion last night, but a slight secondary depression is following it. Pressure is high over Australia and the JVorth Tasman Sea. Indications are for moderate to strong south-westerly to westerly winds, later again becoming more southerly and freshening temporarily. Seas rather rough on the west coast, elsewhere moderato. Moderate to strong south-westerly winds and modorato to rather rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. The weather will bo mainly fair, but* cool and changeable, with soino showers in most districts acconi])anying the freshening of wind from the south. RAINFALL RECORD.
