ESTIMATES INTRODUCED
CONSIDERABLE REDUCTIONS. BRITISH CIVIL SERVICE. British Wireless. RUGBY, Feb. 21. The first of tho series of Government estimates for the next financial year, upon which the Budget, lo be introduced in April will be based, was issued to-day. The document covers (lie civil estimates and the estimates for the revenue departments, including pensions, education, insurance and other grants and Exchequer contributions to local revenue. Tho estimates show a reduction on last year's from 11409,514,765 to 11402,027.105. The actual reduction in the civil estimates exceeds £9,000,000, but an increase in the estimated expenditure by die revenue departments gives the nelt. reduction mentioned. The principal reductions are: Education, £5,466,701; roads, £4,250,000; Pensions Ministry, £2.795,200. The Civil Service estimates total £350,000,000 compared with £339,000,000 last year. They include Dominions Office, £50,000, compared with £56,000 last year; Dominions services, £97,000, compared with £103,000; Empire Marketing Board, £320,000, compared with £659.000; overseas settlement, £91,000, compared with £264,000.
