The Women's Progress Club (inc.) held its weckly v meeting 011 Wednesday afternoon at tho Higher ' Thought Temple, Wellington Street. The president of the club, Mrs. Grace Silcock, gave an address on "Our Motto" (Keep to the Right). Mrs. Moller, vice-president, presided. Mrs. Ironside gave a suitable reading, and "A Soul's Blossom" was sung by Mrs. Wallace. Afternoon tea was dispensed at tho close of tho meeting.

A number of women belonging to the business section of Auckland, met in tho New Zealand Alliance Boom, Unity Hall, to form an evening branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. The organisers, Mrs. Kasper and Miss Bradshaw, spoke on the aims and ideals of tho union. Musical items were given by Mrs. Dallav, Airs. Pan, Mrs. Flinn and Miss Bradshaw, after which supper was served. Mrs. Kasper, district president, elected the following oflicers:— President, Miss Bradshaw; secretary, Mrs. Flinn.

The members of the Whangarei Bowing Club held a welcome home dance in the Parochial Hall, (o (be members of the crew which came second in the Brett Cup in Auckland recently. The president of the Whangarei Women's Institute Centre, Mrs. R. C. M. Harington, yesterday entertained the members at a delightful garden party at her home, Hatea Street. The proceedings opened with the first meeting of the year, when Mrs. Cleaver was fleeted vice-presi-dent in place of Mrs. R. S. Finch, who had resigned. The members later adjourned to the garden, when a delightful time was spent, afterwards wandering through the magnificent native bush. Tea was served under the shade of the trees on the banks of the Hatea River, at the foot of the bush-clad slopes of Mount Parahaki. A very interesting competition on names of native trees was won by Mrs. Mayes, with Mrs. Henwood second. Among those present were:—Mrs. R. C. M. Harington, Mrs. Ventry-Smith, Mrs. W. A very enjoyable flannel dance was hold on the lawn of Mrs. G. Farmer, of Te Hoo Road, Ohinewai, last week, in aid of funds for the Mangawara Hall. Although the weather was threatening a largo number of people assembled from surrounding districts and thoroughly enjoyed the dancing. Music was supplied by Allan's orchestra, of IJuntly. Prizes were won as follows: Monte Carlo, Mrs. J. Foote and R. Grundry; spot waltz, Miss E. Spencer and F. Marshall. Among those present were:—Mcsdames G. Farmer, N. East, W. T. Wallace, E.
