BUCKLAND ROAD BUSES.

Sir, —T would like to endorse the letter signed by Gordon Bennett re Auckland Roar! buses. The Transport Board says this route does not pay. but it paid well when run by a private company, and was such a source of revenue that tho City Council saw fit, to run tho private buses off the rood. There is no question about this run paying if we are given an adequate service as formerly. The last six months the Transport Board service has been very inefficient. The time-table was reduced to a minimum and tho buses frequently left before they were scheduled; in fact, ran anyhow, until the public could no longer rely on the service. This is ono reason for tho falling off in receipts. Another reason is the extravagant expenditure on the part of tho Transport Board in the way of the very unsuitable rolling stock for hilly roads, also tho fact that more frequently than not the motors were kept running for 15 minutes or moro whilo tho buses were at the termini between trips. Surely the needs o£ the public and the petition signed by so many ratepayers must have some consideration. Private enterprises are willing and anxious to run this sorvico. Let us try one. A. G. 1). Bruce.
