AVONDALE WOMEN'S CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Avondale Women's Club was held in the Blockhouse Bay Hall on Tuesday afternoon. Miss Newton presided. The annual report and balance-sheet were presented by the secretary and treasurer, Miss Ingram. These showed that good progress had been made throughout, the year. The roll number had increased from 80 to 94 and members were taking an increasing interest in matters affecting the welfare of women and children and in the general progress of the district. Financially, the club was in a sound position, donations totalling over £l3 having been made during the year to deserving causes. Members were very much interested in another letter from Miss Jean Begg, who, though now residing in Calcutta, still keeps in touch with the club, of which she is an honorary member. The election of officers resulted an follows:—President, Miss Newton (reelected); vice-presidents, Mrs. Oxenham and Mrs. W. Wood; hon. secretary and treasurer, Miss Ingram; press correspondent, Mrs. Metcalfe; executive committee, Mesdames Kealey, Browne, Greep, March and Pendlebury,
