PATRIOTISM OF SWIMMERS. Another example of the growing sentiment for goods made in New Zealand was provided ?n Timaru last week at the conference of delegates representing centres affiliated to the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. On the suggestion of the South Canterbury Centre, it was decided to recommend the council of the association to purchase all medals for presentation to winners of Nc(,v Zealand championships in the Dominion .in future. Until this year's championship meeting the medals had been supplied by an English firm. Ihe South Canterbury delegate* in moving the adoption of the proposal,: said his centre felt that the association slYould do something toward alleviating the country's difficulties by retaining the cost of the medals, about £SO annually, in tlie Dominion.
