4 GARDEN PLACE HILL. PROPOSAL FOR REMOVAL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, "Wednesday. The Hamilton Borough Council met this evening, the Mayor, Dr. F. D. Pinfold, presiding. A resolution moved by Mr. H. D. Caro that a committee investigate the possibility of removing Garden Flace hill was carried. Mr. Caro said the scheme would provide work for the unemployed. It would remove an unsightly hill and would leave in its place a beautiful square. The revenue that would be available from the business sites in the square would repay the cost of the. work. The council decided 1o advocate the repeal of the Board of Trade regulations in respect of gas. The town clerk, Sir. W. L. Waddel, stated that the administration of the regulations cost Hamilton £125 a year, without any advantage to file gas consumer. It was decided to dispense with the services of two members of, the borough engineer's staff.
