EMPLOYMENT FOR BOYS.
POSITIONS ON FARMS. AUCKLAND COMMITTEE'S WORK. In order to further their activities in placing unemployed boys on (lie land, the Future Farmers' Committee has decided to ask all New Zealand farmers for their practical support and co-operation. In a circular letter which is to be sent to some 30.000 farmers an appeal is made for the creation of positions for boys on farms. "This appeal is made to you in the name of the Dominion as a whole and more particularly on behalf of the organisations represented on the Future Farmers' Committee," states the letter. " In our opinion the boy is the first consideration ; the job the second. Remuneration, while important, comes after these." A letter is also to be Sent to the parents and guardians of boys who have come in contact with the committee, urging the boys to be content with farm employment, which provides a good home, even if the wages are low. At yesterday's meeting of the committee, the chairman, Mr. N. G. Gribble, said it was proposed to distribute the letters to the farmers with the assistance of large firms which dealt with the rural population. It was also hoped to have large mounted copies of the circular letter placed in all country post offices. Considerable success has already been achieved by the committee, and to date 160 youths from the city have been found employment in the country.
