DAMAGE FROM FLOODS.
PLIGHT OF WHEAT CROPS. MORE RAIN IN NORTH OTAGO. [r.V TELEGRAPH. —OWN ( OH RESPONDENT."] OAMAHU, Wednesday. The floods in North 01 ago during the week-end had a disastrous effect, on the crops and warm sunshine and drying winds arc required to save those which have not been washed away. Heavy ram, however, set in again to-day and it is anticipated that the yield of first-grade wheat- will now be low, with a large proportion of fowl wheat. The repairs to the Otaio and Pareora bridges are expected to bo completed tomorrow. when the through railway service will be resumed. Passenger traffic to-day was light and no time was lost in transferring the travellers over the seven-mile gap.
