SHERIFF'S WEALTH.
ASKED TO EXPLAIN. NEW YORK SCANDAL. NEW YORK, Feb. 19. New York's picturesque sheriff, Tom Farley, has received final warning from the Governor, Mr. Franklin Roosevelt, that ho must give a credible explanation for his suddenly acquired wealth or resign. In six years Farley's personal bank account has been augmented by £75,000, and the Governor agrees with the Seabury Committee, which is inquiring into graft allegations, that he has given no adequate explanation for two-thirds of that amount. So far Farley has taken refuge in the story that he merely reached into his family's tin box for most of his money.
