NATIONAL ACCOUNTS.
THE PROBABLE DEFICIT.
NO OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL REPORTER.]
WELLINGTON, Tuesday.
A statement, freely circulated, that this year's deficit in the national accounts will reach £3.,000;,000, is neither-confirmed nor denied in official circles, those in touch with the trend of figures adopting the attitude that the time is inopportune for
making ail announcement. However, it is confidently believed in Parliamentary circles that the'figure mentioned will be reasonably near the mark. The financial year has less than six weeks to run, and the prospect of balancing the accounts has long since disappeared. Regarding next, year's budgetary position, it is unofficially stated that the gap to be bridged by economies and taxatiqn in 1932-55 will be about £12,000,000.
