TAKANINI TRACK NEWS.

HALF-MILE BY HUNTINGDON. BRONZE EAGLE'S PROGRESS. The tracks at Tnkanini yesterday were in good order. All the fast work wbb clone on (lie outside crass. Holly Lu (Lencli) was a head in front of Creek Gold (Taylor) at the end of half n mile in 49 3-ss, both horses being stretched right out. It was a nice gallop and in this, as well as most recent efforts, there seemed to be very littlo between the pair. Exaggeration (Taylor) was half a length in front of Camp Princess (Leach) at the end of five furlongs in 1.4 3-5. Exaggeration, who worked freely, is now coming on rapidly, but may still need a race before reaching her best. Letitiu (Jonea) easily beat Palace (Gray) over half a mile in 00 4-Ds. Lctitia has never shown anything out of the ordinary on the track, but is now working in slightly improved style. Palace was very aoro after working and it is understood that a troublesome splint lias again mado its appearance. J n spite of the fact that Eaglet (Jones) was kept up to her work, Hard Words (Moore) hud no trouble in defeating her over five furlongs in 1.3 1-0. Both these horses went otf tho scene through lameness last year, but so far they are standing up well to another preparation, and Hard Words is showing all his former speed. Huntingdon (Craig) led Bronze Eagle (Gray) over half a mile in 50 3-ss. Both were going very easily and they could have done considerably better than the time recorded. Huntingdon is looking extremely well and in sure to race well at To Aroha, Bronze Eagle has done excellently since his return to the track and is looking better than at any previous stage of the season.

Arch Kuler (Jones) and Brazanna (Forsyth) were on terms at the end of six furlongs in 1.18 2-5, both doing their work well, although Arch Ruler, on the inside, appeared to be going slightly the better. Imperial Prince (Leach) and Principal (Taylor) jumped two hurdles in satisfactory style. Jhen Imperial Prince ran a mile with Principal to assist over the first half-mile and Envoy (Lee) over tho last five furlongs. His time was 1.47 3-5, Envoy, who finished in front, running the last five furlongs in 1.7 2-5. It is probable that P. Mcllroy will ride Principal and Imperial Prinre in their jumping engagements at To Aroha. TUHF IN AUSTRALIA. THE NEWMARKET HANDICAP. FINAL ACCEPTANCES. The outstanding Australian buyer of New Zealand bloodstock in recent years, Mr. T. C. Trautwciu, who expended the best part of £IO,OOO in the purchase of Chide and •Runnyniede. and has received little return, was one of the central figures in an inquiry at the Canterbury Park meeting on Saturday. The other principal figure was none oilier than tile truck horseman, J. E. Pike. The horse was an ex-country performer. Sidney George, a big lumbering fellow, not at nil suited by the suburban turns. Kidney George was rather uneasy in the betting and at the finish "blew out." He was drawn badly and ran out very wide on tlie turn, to finish seventh. The inquiry was adjourned so that the books of the leading bookmakers could Ue examined. The stewards Sound. that some hundreds of pounds had been invested by the stable, r.nd after adjourning the inquiry again until Monday, for further deliberation, decided to take no action. I*l'e fact that Mr. Trnutwein owns Chide, the Sydney Cup favourite, and that Pike, too. was involved, made for a good deal ot public interest. GORE MEETING OPENS TO-DAY.
