He has come on well during the last few weeks, but may be in need of a race. Nathaniel claims two engagements to-day. Impromptu (C. Lowe) worked a useful two miles unhoppled. He relished the hard footing and if the track proves firm to-day he should race well in the Mackenzie Handicap. Hoi Grande (A. Pollen) did not impress in a work-out over three laps, and after his poor display it was decided not to accept with him in the Rangitoto Handicap to-day. Cleao (G. Webb) gave a nice display of free-legged pacing, sprinting smartly over three furlongs. Her owner, H. Hendriksen, who has made a favourable recovery from his recent mishap on the track, was present to see Cleao race on Monday. Explosion (\V. Clifton) was worked steadily over three lapß. The trotter still shows signs of soreness and will not be seen at his best if started to-day. Jiaydus was jogged on the load for several laps. He looks none the worse for his outing on Monday and has two engagements to-day. He will he ridden in the saddlo race by the promising young Epsom horseman L. Laver. A. J. Corrigan returned home after the first day's racing. Lucky Voyage and Winshow were not accepted for, and Poi, tho only Hawera representative in to-day'a fields, will again be ridden by R„ A. McMillan. During the afternoon a trotting exhibition will be given by Manna's Son. a promising two-year-old trotter in E. R. C.roat's stable, by Worthy Bond from Manna. NEW BRIGHTON TROTS.
