REMARKABLE BILLIARDS.

RECORD BREAK BY LINDRUM. Thurston's Hall was the scene of some remarkable billiards on January 30, says an English critic. Lindrum, the Australian professional player, started the afternoon session with an unfinished run of 3151, which ho had compiled on the previous day by staying at the table part of the afternoon and all through the evening. In less than an hour he had carried his score to 4137, when the break ended. It was the first lime that any player had ever passed the total of 4000 in a single break under the revised rules, for the previous best was 3905, made by Lindrum himself in 1930. To appreciate fully his pre-eminence among billiards players at the present time it is only necessary to say that no other player has ever scored more than 2800 points in a single break. Since be first came here over two years ago Lindrum has gone on making big score after big score, constantly setting himself a higher mark to reach in the future. Now that he has topped the 4000, his aim may well be a break of 5000. At the same time the excellence of bis play heems to have improved bis fellow-pro-fessionals as well, That was seen yesterday afternoon when, after Lindrum had completed his huge broak, bis opponent Pavis, nothing daunted by having had to sit as a spectator of such n great feat of skill and endurance for over three hours, went to the table and before the session had ended had himself scored 1131 points and later carried his break to 1247.
