POWER IN FRANKLIN.
RATE FOR WATER PUMPING. [from our own correspondent.] PUKKKOIIE, Tuesday. The Franklin Power Board decided today that in cases where water pumping was required for household purposes in tile dry weather power would be made available at night at 3d a" unit, in addition to 2s a month for' the necessary time-switch and meter rent at the rale of 5s a year. The engineer, Mr. L. G. Sharp, reported that the Miranda-New Brighton (Kaiaua) lino had been livened. Four transformers were to he installed this week, completing the new line from Mangatawhir.i to the hotel at New Brighton.. Replacement, of the galvanised steel wire with copper wire on part of the line near the west coast at Taurangaruru, Waiuku, was authorised at an estimated cost of £l3O, the engineer reporting that since the erection of the lino in 1928 some of the wire had deteriorated through the effect of the sea air.
