OPIUM DEN RAIDED.

PROPRIETOR FINED £250. POLICE BATTER DOOR DOWN. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Monday. The police raided a three-roomed house in Haining Street on Saturday night, using a crowbar, a saw and an axe to break in a barricaded door. They found a large quantity of opium and pipes and 15 Chinese, whose ages ranged from 28 to 75. Woon Sang, proprietor, was to-day fined a total of £250, and 12 men were fined £l2 10s each for being on the premises. Charges against two others were dismissed.
