FUND FOR NEEDY WOMEN.

APPOINTMENT OF TRUSTEE. An application for the consent of the Supreme Court to tho appointment of a permanent trustee for the fund left by Ihe lato Mrs. Mary Ann Barstow was granted by Mr. Justice Herdman yesterday. Counsel who supported tho application said tho fund, which had been left by Mrs. Barstow at her death in 1925, now amounted to £16.000. It was left to bo administered by tho vicars of St. Mark's and SU Mary's for the benefit of indigent widows and spinsters over tho age, of 50. The trustees of tho will had requested tho vicars to take transfer of the property, but they were unwilling to do so, as they did not consider they were the best persons to administer and invest such a fund. In the meantime it hr.d been in the hands of the trustees of the will, who had paid over tho income in equal portions to the vicars. They now wished a permanent trustee appointed, and tin New Zealand Insurance Company had agreed to act. The scheme had the approval of the Attorney-General. His Honor gave the Court's approval as requested.
