LITERARY DIGEST POLL. RESULT OF FIRST COUNT. NEW YORK, Feb. IS. The counting of the first 323,550 votes in the latest prohibition poll taken by the Literary Digest covering eight States, shows the following result: —ln favour of continuance of the Eighteenth Amendment 51,285; in favour of the repeal of the law, 272,265. New York is the " wettest " State and voted 87 per cent, for repeal, and North Carolina is the " driest " with 41 per cent, for continuance. The poll this year asks only the two questions, omitting the modification issue.
