RACES AT TE RAPA.

PROGRAMME FOR TO-DAY. THE STOREY MEMORIAL CUP. PROSPECTS OF FEGAWAY. Fields of good average size and finality are carded for the openin.T of the Wuikato Racine Club's meeting at Te Rapa to-day and the prospects for keen racing are bright. The course should have benefited by the rain that has fallen in the past week, and. unless lhe weather continues to bo wet. the. condition of tho going should be excellent. The easing of the'state of the track will be appreciated by a number of horses and it is probable that under the c.ii'cumstioicea some of tho candidates may show improvement upon their recent efforts oil hard tracks. Following are tho details of the fields, with n review of the prospects in each race by " Archer:" — 12.0 —TRIAL STAKES. Of SZS and £2 sweepstake; 6 fur. St. lb. at. lb. Book Law . 8 3 Reclaimed . . " 12 King's Knave 8 3 Aga. Khan . . 7 12 Chateau ..83 Free Air ' Marmora to ..80 llluminelli ..70 Reviver ... 8 0 Amber Link ? 0 King's Knave's form reads better than that of the others, and. although he might be better suited by a slightly longer distance. he should be a very difficult horse to beat in this class. Agiv Khan shaped well at Takapuna. where he was very unlucky, and a repetition of his form there will make him very dangerous. Mannornte and Amber Link aro others who have some form to recommend them and should both beat more than will beat them. Of the remainder. Chateau looks the best prospect, and he is a smart galloper likely to prove very troublesome. The best supported may be KING'S KNAVE. AGA KHAN. AMBER LINK. 12.45—FRANKTON HURDLES, Of £9O; lj miles. st. lb et. lb. Wiltshire . .10 It Mia Stella . 9 0 Mangani . . . 10 10 High ComCristobel ... 10 8 missioner ..90 Standfast ... 10 0 Lord Snow ..90 'Jo Homai ..96 Standfast made a very promising debut as a hurdler at Matamata and slight improvement on that effort will be all that will be necessary to give, him a good chance here. "Wiltshire would be more at home over a longer distance, but he is better seasoned than most of the others and should give a good account of himself. C nstobel has not won for some time, but has lately shown some signs of returning to form. and. now that, the tracks have become slightly easier, she may win at any time. At his best Mangani would be strongly .fancied, but. he may need a race, and the best , prospect of the others may be Te Ilomai. who is quite useful. The favourites mav include STANDFAST, CRISTOBEL, WILTSHIRE. I.3O—JUVENILE HANDICAP, Of £3O; two-year-olds; 5 fur. st. lb. et. lb. Tea Trader 9 10 Hauwiri ..75 Foreign Money 8 1 Desert Fire . 7 2 G. Marigold . 7 13 Senorita ... 7 2 Te Waipu 7 12 Jonathan ..72 Welcome Lu . 7 9 Erination ..72 Sea Ruler . 7 8 Rom. Mascot 7 2 Safe Bank .75 Tea Trader is a class above the others and will be very difficult to beat with all his weight, although his connections may not care to run him with such a big impost if the track is soft. Foreign Money has run several good races in the past couple, of months and has a good chance to win here. His stable mate. Te Waipu, is also a possibility, but better prospects may be Sea Ruler. Roman Mascot. Welcome Lu and Jonathan. Most support may be given to TEA TRADER. FOREIGN MONEY. SEA RULER. 2.15 —STOREY MEMORIAL CUP. Of £275. including gold cup valued at £SO; 1} miles, st. lb. _ st- lb. Pegnway ... 10 0 Mosque ... 7 2 Chief Joy ..89 Limeen ... 7 2 Eager Rose . 711 Alloy . ..71 Maori Boy . 7 7 Bronze Tray . 7 0 Royal Artist . 7 7 Llanore • . 7 0 Flying Prince 7 5 Although he has a big weight. Pegs way'a prospects should be bright. With 10.1 ho finished a closo third in the Summer Cup at Ellerslie, and with lib. less he will onlv renuire to reproduce that form to take considerable beating here. Chief Joy has vet to prove his worth at the distance, but shaped well at nine furlongs at Takapuna and should have a chance in this company, as he is very fit. Eager Rose is nicelv placed and should give a good account of herself, although it will not be in her favour if the track is soft. Royal Artist. Mosque and Flying Prince are lightweights with good chances, and others who may race creditably are Alloy and Limeen. Tho main fancies may include PEG AWAY. ROYAL ARTIST. EAGER ROSE. 3.O—LINLEY HACK HANDICAP, Of £75; 7 fur. St. lb. st. lb Ganpat .... 9 7 Lady Musk . 7 11 Jmamint, ... 8 9 Lueidus . ..78 Ruby Dawn . 8 4 Welcome Boy 7 7 Holly Holm . 8 2 Alpina .... 7 s lnd-Ment ... 8 0 Searcher ..73 Teels .... 7 12 Wilton .... 7 0 Glen Rata . . 7 11 Homelight . . ' o After her good win at Rotorua Teels appears to have bright prospects and what heats her should win. Lneidus is a smart galloper likely to fake a good deal of beating. and other lightweights who may prove very troublesome, are Alpina and Welcome Boy. Ganpat should make a good showing with all his weight, and other possibilities are Lady Musk, Ruby Dawn. Glenrata and Holly Holm. Horses who may be well supported aio TEELS, LUCLDUS. ALPINA. 3.4S—PUK ETA HA HIGH-WEIGHT, Of £9O; 1 mile, st. lb. st. lb, Gay C'ockatle 9 4 Bronze Tray 810 Cruachnn ... 9 3 Kairuri . ..80 Te Hoia ... 9 2 Spring Abbey 8 0 Hit the Deck 9 0 Hoseric .... 8 0 The class is not strong and tho race should provido Gay Cockade with a good opportunity of returning to the winning list. With a strong horseman in the saddle ho should run » good mile. and. 'after his good gallop on Thursday, ho should bo solidlv supported. Cruachan will relish the easing of the track and should be dangerous, but To Hoia may need a run after his absence from racing. Hit tho Deck and Bronzo Tray should both go well, but the others do not. make any appeal. Popular fancies may be GAY COCKADE. HIT THE DECK, BRONZE TRAY. 4,3O—PRESIDENT'S HANDICAP, Of £150; 6 fur. st. lb. st. lb. Paganelli ..DO Tea C'hnt . . 711 Leitrim ... 8 7 Baroscopo .77 High Comedy 8 6 King Ford .75 Marechal ... 8 2 Persham ... 7 0 Gold Day . . 7 12 Imamint ... 7 0 A soft truck will not suit either Paganelli or High Comedy, but they can be rolled upon for good efforts if the conditions are considered favourable enough for them to start. Leitrim is nicely placed and will be in his element if the truck is soft, a condition that will also suit King Ford, Baroscope and Persham. King Form is in winning form again, but at the difference in weights lie will need to reproduce his very best, to beat Tea Chat, who will he very difficult to beat unless the going is heavy. Gold Day and Marechal must, both have chances, and Persham. King Ford is in winning better than in any of his previous efforts in open company. The state, of the going will be a vital factor, but there may be support for TEA CHAT. LEITRIM. KING FORD.

S.IS—BEERESCOURT HANDICAP, Of £IOO and 2sov. eweepetako; 1 mile. st. lb st. lb. Princess Bedo 8 11 Lady Lulu ..74 L'Allegro ..86 Trowbridge . 7 2 Vnlmario ... 8 3 Abbey Dream 7 0 Gay Idea. ..82 Aicado .... 7 0 The casing of (lie track conditions will favour Princess Bedo and Yalmarie, who can be both expected to run solid ia,ces. I/Allegro is another who will go well, and Gay Idea should possess an excellent chance. At, Tnknpumi last month Gay Idea gave evidence that she was returning to form and she should prove very difficult to bent in this company. Lady Lulu reads bo.at of the lightweights nnd is likel.v to show up prominently for most of the journey even if she does not quite succeed. Investors may show a preference for GAY IDEA. PRINCESS BEDE, VALMAIUE. RIDING ENGAGEMENTS. JOCKEYS' MOUNTS TO-DAY. Riding engagements announced for the first day of the Waikato Raring Clubs meeting* nt To Rapa to day include the following:— ... Chisholm to run Llanore in the Storey Memorial C'un. but he has decided against making the trip and Llanore. will be relieved of her engagement to-day. Whenever the weights suit, E. A. Keening will do the riding (or A. Cook's stable at Te Rapa and two of bis mounts fo-day will be I'ogaway and Leitrim. Unless the conditions prove, unfavourable. Cook will race all the. horses he has engaged at '.he meetinc to-day. Gay Cockade has let. his supporters down too often to be regarded as a very reliable racehorse, but he galloped well on Thursday and is probably better at present, than for some time past. The class he. has to meet in the Puketahn High-weight Handicap to-day should he right, to his likine and the race should provide him with an excellent opportunity to return to the winning list. Since win.ling two hurdle rare* nt the winter meeting at Ellerslie last, season Cristobel has not. been called upon to do much racinc and in the meantime she has failed to show any form of particular note. However, she need not he discredited for her defeats, and. now that there hns been an easinc of track conditions, she may win at any time. It is ouite on the cards that Cristobel will prove very troublesome to the opposition in the Frankton Hurdles to-dav. WANGANUI PROSPECTS. [by telegraph.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WANGANUI, Friday. The fields for the second day of the Wanganui Jockey Club's meeting to-morrow are small, but the Wanganui Handicap and Jackson Stakes should he good races.
