PRODUCTION OF NEW PLAY. " THE CONSTANT NYMPH." <> J^ e h earsa ' s have now commenced for The Constant Nymph," the delightful Bohemian comedy which the Auckland Little Theatre Society will present in His .Majesty's Theatre in the mkklle of April. " The play will probably be one of the niost ambitious productions the society ,has yet attempted, but talent in Auckland is so good that we shall be well fitted give a really first-class performance," said the producer, Mr. Gaston Mervale. yesterday. " Special music is being written for it by a verv talented local musician, and wo shall * thus be helped by a sister art. 'I he Constant Nymph ' is of such calibre as si play that an amateur society /■ n Sydney ran it for five consecutive weeks," Mr. Mervale added, " and if the Auckland Little Theatre Society had a theatre of its own it should be able to run the play for at least two weeks. A fine cast has been selected, the lady members of which are new to the stage of the society." // " The Constant Nymph," from the charming book by Margaret Kennedy, was adapted by the author, in co-operation with Basil Deane, for the stage, and a remarkable feature of the dramatic version is the closeness with which the book is followed, even the dialogue being to a large extent retained unchanged. The sketches the fortunes of the Sanger family, whose idiosyncrasies give it a Bohemian atmosphere of a type that few other plays have possessed. The first act takes place in the Austrian Tyrol, but /even when the family moves to England the same atmosphere is retained.
