MOUNTAIN CALL.
DOT?IS BROWN, Fenlon Street, Stratford, (Age 17.) (Original.) The mountain's calling me, Its glittering, jewelled crest. Its night-black crags are beckoning, Alluring—l cannot rest. When I have left the plains, All pearled with dew, behind, Have set foot on the upland track, Where moss hung trees are lined. When I have seen the peak, Sleeping 'neath rosy mist, Touched by the rising sun, To gold and amethyst. Then I shall cease to be Earthbound by the plain, But pressing upward to the crest, Find freedom once again.
