I'm taking a few Christmas presents home," said a cyclist who was stopped by a police officer at West Didsbury, Manchester, on Christmas Evo and asked for an explanation of his bulky pockets. The cyclist was found to have six prize hens worth 15s each in his pockets, and to have two or more hanging underneath his mackintosh on the handlebars. At the Police Court on Boxing Day ho was bound over and ordered to pay £6 to the owner of the hens.
