FIGHTING CHEMJCAL FIRES. The Finance Committee reported to the Otnlniliu Borough Council on Thursday that tlio total amount of rates collected to date was £3892, representing 21 per cent, of (ho rates collectable. A recommendation that a chemical engine ho purchased was submitted by tlie fii'o committee. Tlio chairman, Mr. J. Trenwith, said this typo of engine was essential to deal with Fires at the chemical works in the district.
