ALLEGATION OF FRAUD.

CHARGE AGAINST AGENT. SUPPRESSION OF NAME REFUSED. An agent, Phillip Fielding Farnworth, aged 40, appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Polico Court yesterday, charged with an offence alleged to have been committed two years ago. The count preferred against the accused, who was arrested by Detective-Ser-geant McHugh, was that, on February 19, 1330. with intent to defraud, be obtained £2O from Charles Slithers Leo by falsely representing that he would be paying the sum to Detective-Sergeants Doyle and McHugh as a bribe arrangement that a bookmaking business carried on by Farnworth and Lee would be free from prosecution. A remand until February 26 was requested by Detective-Sergeant Kellv. The magistrate refused an application for tho suppression of name and granted the remand. Bail was renewed in the sum of £IOO, in one surety.
