THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. STEADY CONDITIONS PREVAIL. Conditions in (ho investment market on the Auckland Stock Exchange underwent little change yesterday. Steady levels ruled in most sections and the bulk of the dealing took place at late rates. The market for Government securities remained firm except for 1933 and 1939 44 per cent, bonds, for which offers fell 10s to £94. An advance of 5s was recorded in 1933 5A per cent, bonds, which were secured at £9B 15s. There was a shading of 2s 6d on the previous day's lies' price in 1937 5A per cents., which were done twice at £99 10s, without fully satisfying the demand. Similar stock was done at the same price, which was equal to late rates. Practically all of the remaining business was done in banks and insurances. In banks support improved for New South Wales, after dealing unchanged at £25 15s. New Zealands were rlonp again at 44s 9d without any alteration- to current quotations. New Zealand Insurance, were secured 3d lower at 3/s 6d. Movements were slight in other sections. The preference issuo of Union Steams changed hands equal to the last sale at 20s. In mining buyers advanced their offers for Waih'is 2d to 17 s 2d, holders continuing to quote 17s 6d. Sellers also sought 2d more for Mount Lyells, for which 20s 3d was asked. King Solomons were secured at the current price, of Is lOd.
