HEAVY LOSS OF SMEEP.

DAMAGE IN AUSTRALIA

SYDNEY, Feb. 18. It is estimated that 5000 sheep were burnt to death in bush fires on station properties near Goondiwindi, on the borders of New South Wales and Queensland. Fire-fighters wero trying to keep the flames back from the sheep in one place when a second fire overtook them from the rear. Miles of fencing have been destroyed and about 15,000 acres of grass country burnt.
