RETAIL PETROL PRICES.

NO CHANGE IN WELLINGTON.

[BY TELEGRAPH.—rRESS ASSOCIATION.] "WELLINGTON, Thursday.

Although a penny reduction in the wholesale price of petrol has been announced, the retail price in Wellington will not be altered, the retailers' organisation stating that the taxation increase of twopence was not passed on to the consumer. Betailers in the Wellington district had recently decided on a penny increase, which would still have left them carrying a penny of the additional tax. This increase would not now be made.

Auckland is not affected by the reduction of the wholesale prices of petrol announced in Wellington on Tuesday.
