DEFICIT REDUCED. SURPLUS OF REVENUE. SATISFACTORY WEEK. RECEIPTS FROM TAXES. BETTER CUSTOMS FIGURES. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received February 17, 5.5 p.m.) British Wireless. RUGBY. Feb. 16. The weekly return of Exchequer receipts, issued this evening, is again highly satisfactory. Last week's revenue amounted to £33,700,000 and as the expenditure was £3.000.000, tho surplus on the week totalled £25,700,000. 1 his reduced the deficit during the week from £100,000,000 to £74.300.000. The deficit last year at the corresponding date was £98,000,000. Income tax and surtax receipts continue to be satisfactory. The revised Budget contemplated a total from these souices of £345,000,000, of which £265,300,000 had been received up to Saturday. Thus a sum of £79,700,000 has to be collected before the financial year ends on March 31. Last year the amount outstanding at the corresponding date was £115,000,000. Since January the Exchequer has received £167,300.000, compared with £111,500,000 in tho corresponding period of last year from these sources. Customs revenue also is showing a weekly increase and £13,000,000 more lias been received than at the same date last year. ________
